Week 4: Personalizing the Internet Lab
In lab for September 18th and 19th, you should:
- Sign up for a Google Alert to a search phrase of your choosing.
- Set up an aggregator account and add a CEP416 folder within which you subscribe to each other’s blogs and the course blog.
- Update your “aggregator” link on the wiki page.
- Play with iGoogle. Add some of the gadgets, move them to different places, and try out the “Add Tab” feature.
- Work on your portfolio. By the end of class, all of your main pages should be published and linked to properly even if the content is in rough draft form.
- Create a post on your blog where you discuss personalizing the internet for your own use and for potential use with your students.
- Register for the COE tech conference. Class will not meet next week, September 25th and 26th so that you can attend the conference. Attendance at the conference is mandatory.

Week 3: Professional Web Portfolio
The agenda for September 11th and 12 is:
- Any questions about the syllabus?
- Any questions regarding blogging?
- Blogging comments, backlinks, post options
- Basics of the internet PPT
- Discussion of web portfolios
- Discussion of past examples of web portfolios from CEP 416
- Web portfolio lab
Week 3: Professional Web Portfolio Lab
In the lab portion of today's class, you should:
- Set up an account with Google Page Creator or another web creation site.
- Set up the major structure of your portfolio. You might want to sketch this out on paper first.
- Put text, a picture, and a link to your blog on your website's homepage.
- Update your portfolio link on the Wiki Gallery so that it links to your homepage.
- Create a new post on your blog that discusses what you want to accomplish with your portfolio and how your structuring of the portfolio will maximize your success with these goals. Be sure to give the post an appropriate label or tag.
- Sign up for a week to do your New Technology Presentation. You should partner with one other person (I think one group will need three). You might want do decide these partnerships via a particular interest, subject area, or grade level. Let instructor know the groupings and when you would like to present. Two presentations max per week, first come first serve.
